He later founded Butler Engineering Group, Inc. in 1998 to offer a hands-on approach to design and construction. His work spans civil and structural engineering, surveying, construction administration, and field coordination. Kevin has led projects including automotive dealerships, commercial buildings, office spaces, school facilities, industrial and agricultural facilities, and food processing plants. With a background in carpentry, he remains actively involved in fieldwork to ensure practical, cost-effective solutions. Kevin is also committed to mentoring his team and fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.

Simmie has been with Butler Engineering Group, Inc. since 2008. He graduated from the California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He brings extensive experience in structural design and CAD drafting, with expertise in all aspects of AutoCAD, including 3D modeling. Simmie has worked on a wide range of projects, from custom residential and commercial buildings to educational, healthcare, and tenant improvement projects. As a lead on our structural team, he guides multidisciplinary planning and design efforts, collaborating with internal staff, outside consultants, and local jurisdictions. His strong technical background and practical experience allow him to anticipate and resolve design challenges early in the process, delivering thoughtful and efficient solutions for our clients.

Roy has been with us since 2018, bringing seven years of experience to the firm. He graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He relocated to Redding after graduation to focus on structural design and expand his technical skills. As a professional engineer, Roy leads the design and engineering staff, overseeing the coordination of structural projects and providing
cross-disciplinary support in civil, structural, facilities, and environmental engineering. Roy plays a key leadership role within the firm, mentoring interns and junior engineers while promoting thoughtful, detail-oriented design. His approach emphasizes clarity and precision to minimize construction costs and field issues, ensuring quality results for clients.

Tyler joined Butler Engineering Group, Inc. in 2022 and brings a diverse background in both public and private sector engineering. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. As a professional engineer, Tyler supports the lead project team in developing foundation and structural plans and details. He collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team to produce efficient, reliable design packages. Tyler also works closely with contractors and clients to coordinate project specifications and has experience ranging from new construction to renovation projects in the education, healthcare, and industrial sectors.

Blake has been with Butler Engineering Group, Inc. for six years. He graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He has experience in management, welding, urban design, GIS, and engineering. He leads the Aerial Survey Department as an FAA-certified drone pilot, overseeing all aspects of aerial data collection and post-processing. His background in managing a diverse client base at an industrial steel company brings valuable field and office expertise to the team.
A licensed Civil Engineer since 1970, Gene has seen all of Shasta County’s growth and expansion. Gene is a highly experienced and respected surveyor. His relationships with local architects, engineers and construction managers enables him to effectively communicate project progress to clients, developers, and jurisdictional authorities.
Gene enjoys the field and the ability to work outdoors. Gene’s experience is extremely varied, covering many aspects of civil design for major public works projects to private land development work. He works directly with our engineering and design staff to verify geological and property boundary data to contribute to building design as needed.
Bob has been with Butler Engineering Group, Inc. since 2012, bringing over 15 years of prior experience to the survey department. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the survey and construction staking team and plays a key role in managing project workflows. Bob is highly experienced in land surveying, boundary analysis, construction staking, and project management. His deep understanding of GPS survey applications helps ensure accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effective results for clients. Known for continually expanding his technical skill set, Bob stays current with evolving industry practices. As a Redding native, he brings valuable regional insight and has worked on a wide range of projects including bridge alignments, residential subdivisions, and commercial and industrial developments.
TJ has been with Butler Engineering Group, Inc. for eight years and has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. His background includes hand drafting, CADD drafting, and metal fabrication, offering a well-rounded perspective to both field and design work. TJ supports the design team through all phases of development, from initial design to construction staking. His strong network of industry contacts and vendor relationships adds value to project coordination and execution.
Parker has been with Butler Engineering Group, Inc. for two years. He graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He returned to his hometown to contribute to the survey department. Parker brings field experience in fabrication, drafting, and grading operations, along with strong skills in AutoCAD. Known for his attention to detail, he demonstrates exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.
Kayla joined our staff in May 2013. Working with clients, Kayla coordinates client requests to working drawings to support all phases of design development. Collaborating with our contractors and clients through superior customer service with a strong sense of urgency and commitment to providing optimal project results. Kayla is familiar with the construction and engineering industry and has a broad knowledge of the construction trades and our clientele.
Gianna joined Butler Engineering Group, Inc. in August 2023. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. With a background in transportation engineering, modeling, statistics, and computer science, she brings a strong technical foundation to the Project Design team. Trained in both AutoCAD and Revit, Gianna effectively translates client vision into practical design solutions across multiple platforms. She has strong proficiency in Spanish and is recognized for her clear communication skills and ability to understand and respond to client needs. Her ability to bridge technical details with visual design makes her an asset to the team.
Marla has been an integral part of Butler Engineering Group, Inc. since 2002, overseeing the business side of the firm. With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, she manages accounting, administration, payroll, and daily operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional client service.
McKenna has most recently joined us in August 2024. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. New to the engineering field, she has quickly adapted and works alongside Marla to support accounting, administration, payroll, and daily operations. She also applies her marketing background to managing company branding, including website updates, proposal and RFP materials, company gear, and any projects representing Butler Engineering Group. She is also our in-house Notary Public.
Jamie joined Butler Engineering Group, Inc. in 2022 and brings decades of administrative experience to the firm. She provides front desk reception, clerical support, and accounts receivable while ensuring client projects are billed accurately and on time. Jamie also manages safety records, maintains the firm’s Injury Illness Prevention Plan, and coordinates with vendors for office and fleet needs, all while delivering excellent client service.
